The construction of a new building around a “quad” providing 250 bed student accommodations. The new building has a basement, lower ground floor and first to third floor with a total gross floor area of approximately 11,280m². Acland house, a grade II listed building is to be retained and incorporated into the new build. The existing site was formally the Acland hospital and was used by Keble College for student accommodation.
The residential accommodation will be supported by various facilities including seminar / teaching spaces, common rooms, café and basement research lab and storage.
A separate Advanced studies centre (Woodstock Road House) will be constructed on the north west side of the site but linked to the main building. This will serve as an office / research building with meeting and conference rooms and library. The building will have a lower ground, ground, first and second floors with a total gross floor area of approximately 950m².
External works include a central landscaped quad incorporating a water feature, landscaping to the boundaries of the site and a northern vehicular and pedestrian road with car parking.
